Privacy

Last updated 3 August 2026

Voynich Alive collects nothing. Not your name, not your email, not an identifier, not a page you looked at. There is no analytics library in the app, no advertising, no account and no server of ours for anything to be sent to.

The app does not use the network

Every page, every scan and every moving opening is stored inside the app itself. Nothing is downloaded while you read, so nothing about your reading can leave the device. The app works with the network switched off entirely, and behaves exactly the same either way.

What is stored on your device

These stay on your device, are readable only by the app, and are removed when you delete it. They are never transmitted anywhere.

Purchases

The one-off purchase that unlocks the book is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details, your Apple Account, or your name — we only learn from the device that a purchase exists. Apple’s own handling of that transaction is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy. Restoring a purchase on another device likewise happens between your device and Apple.

Children

The app is rated 12+ because the manuscript’s bathing section contains dozens of nude figures drawn in the fifteenth century. Since nothing is collected from anyone, no data is collected from children either.

Third parties

There are none. No trackers, no SDKs, no crash reporters, no fonts or scripts fetched from anyone else. The only outside party involved in the app at all is Apple, and only for the purchase.

This website

This page and the pages around it are static files on a hosting provider. They set no cookies and run no analytics. The provider may keep ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, as part of delivering the page; we do not read them and cannot connect them to anything.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a future version of the app were ever to collect anything, it would be said here plainly, and asked for in the app first.
